Michael Campbell is eagerly looking forward to returning to competition at next week’s Madrid Masters.
Campbell has not played since missing the halfway cut in April’s U.S. Masters at Augusta National.
It was after that disappointment Campbell indicated he was taking an extensive break from the game.
“I just needed to get away from golf and reassess matters,” he said.
“But I’ve now had about two months off I feel I am now in a position to get back into the deep end and I will do that next week in Madrid.
“I have never played the Madrid Masters so I am looking forward to making the trip to Spain.”
During his self-imposed absence Campbell has not been sitting idle and he’s been out at the nearby Australian Golf Club close to his Sydney residence working on his game.
The former U.S. Open champion has also undergone some treatment on his left shoulder .
Campbell’s immediate schedule will see him contest the May 27th starting Madrid Masters, the following week’s Celtic Manor Wales Open, the June 7th British Open 36-hole qualifier at the Sunningdale Club in Surrey.
Campbell will then take a week off before venturing back to the States for the June 17th starting U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in California.
